On November 9-10, 2023, MIT Company took part in the annual international scientific and practical conference "Interdisciplinary Neurology", held as part of the epilepsy awareness month in Shymkent.
Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases in the world, affecting about 50 million people. In the presentations of the conference participants, it was noted that today the number of people suffering from drug-resistant epilepsy in the Republic of Kazakhstan is 9,700 people.
Thorough diagnosis is crucial for the treatment of the disease. As part of the epilepsy surgery session, which is relevant for the drug-resistant form, a master class on pre-surgical diagnosis of epilepsy was held using an expert-class device — the EEG-1200J/K NIHON KOHDEN Electroencephalograph (Japan). During the master class, the features of operating the equipment, its capabilities, as well as its use for monitoring the patient's condition after surgical treatment were demonstrated.
The epilepsy surgery session was held under the leadership of Ch.S. Shashkin, Head of the Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology at the International Institute of Postgraduate Education and Director of the "ShashkinClinic", together with A.A. Zuev, Head of the Neurosurgery Center and Department at the Pirogov National Medical and Surgical Center.
