Innovative Solutions for Precision Neurosurgery: MIT and Brainlab at the Neuromodulation Congress
On October 3–4, the International Congress on Neuromodulation was held at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, bringing together leading experts in the field of functional neurosurgery.
The Congress was organized by the Public Association “Kazakh Society of Neuromodulation” — the first professional platform in this field in Kazakhstan and the national chapter of the International Neuromodulation Society (INS).
MIT, together with Brainlab, presented advanced technological solutions aimed at improving the precision and efficiency of neurosurgical procedures.
As part of the event, the following were demonstrated:
- Brainlab Elements Stereotaxy workstation and software — The Brainlab Elements software features a unique anatomical mapping technology that enables the creation of 3D models of critical brain structures, including the basal ganglia.
The “artificial tissue” model supports tissue classification and anomaly detection, while tissue-based segmentation accounts for the patient’s individual anatomy, contributing to safe and personalized planning of neurosurgical procedures - CIRQ robotic arm — a tool that provides high-precision positioning during Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS), biopsy, and stereo-electroencephalography (sEEG) procedures;
- Magic Leap 1 with Mixed Reality Viewer — an innovative solution demonstrating the use of augmented and mixed reality technologies in medical training and surgical planning.
Brainlab KICK and CURVE neuro- and ENT-navigation systems have been successfully installed and are actively used in leading medical institutions of Kazakhstan, including:
