A new educational course for orthopedic traumatologists started in Almaty

On June 9, a two-day educational course for traumatologists and orthopedists of Kazakhstan began its work on the basis of the City Clinical Hospital No. 4. The course is organized with the support of theScientific Research Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedy named after academician Batpenov N.D.,the Almaty Department of Public Health, the Department of Traumatology and Orthopedics at the Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University and the Kazakhstan Association of Traumatologists and Orthopedists. Training and practical part is conducted by Prof. G.V. Korobushkin, M.D., Moscow, Russia. The MIT company presented to the course audience a mobile robotic imaging system Loop-X for use in neurosurgery, traumatology and maxillofacial surgery, Brainlab (Germany). The Loop-X is a mobile imaging robot. It improves intraoperative imaging – from localization, incision planning, 2D and 3D images with navigation to pre-programmed parking positions. The robot offers a new way for the scanner and navigation system to interact, providing a streamlined, time-saving workflow and giving surgeons the freedom to visualize and control in the operating room.
