International webinar on “Critical conditions during pregnancy.The stanford experience
On May 21, 2021, an international webinar was held on the topic “Critical conditions during pregnancy. The Stanford Experience” with the technical and organizational support of Medical Innovations & Technologies.
The moderators of the webinar were Zauresh Dzhumanalievna Amanzholova, M.D., Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Scientific Center for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Almaty), Member of the Majilis of the Republic of Kazakhstan Parliament and Yann A. Meunier, MD, International Consultant and Director of International Corporate Affairs and Business Development, Stanford Hospital and Clinics (2010-2011)
This is the second webinar organized at the initiative of the Office of Public Health of Almaty as part of strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and the United States in the field of health care with the active support of the Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in San Francisco – Azamat Abdraimov.
Nariman Boltaevich Tabynbaev, M.D., professor, head of the Department of Public Health of Almaty, also welcomed the webinar participants.
Nariman Boltaevich said that a month ago, a Kazakh-American webinar was held on the fight against the pandemic and the current webinar is a continuation of cooperation on the exchange of international practical experience, which can become long-term.
Dr. Y. Katherine Bianco, one of the leading specialists in obstetrics and gynecology at Stanford Maternal and Child Health Center and Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, spoke in her first presentation about the principles of managing complicated deliveries, detailed the problem of sepsis in obstetric practice and technological solutions to ensure infection prevention in maternity units and hospitals. Her second presentation was focused on the Treatment of Pregnant Women with COVID-19 and Vaccination Issues.
Dr. Chandani DeZure, associate professor of pediatrics, neonatal medicine and developmental medicine at Stanford Medical School, shared the principles of neonatal care, including oxygen support for premature infants with her Almaty colleagues. She chose Marie Curie’s words as an epigraph to her speech: “Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less”. Dr. Chandani spoke about the policies and experiences of Stanford University Medical School and the Stanford Clinic in organizing medical care for newborns in the face of a pandemic.
The webinar was attended by doctors from City Maternity Hospitals, Polyclinics, PHC centers, Alatau City Hospital, City Perinatal Center, Emergency Medical Care Station, and other medical organizations in the city.
