Loop-X – mobile robotic imaging system

Loop-X is a mobile robotic imaging system capable of producing both 2D and 3D images. It allows intraoperative X-ray imaging directly at the surgical site and enables precise definition of the scanning area, significantly reducing radiation exposure for both the patient and medical staff.

Loop-X provides surgeons with real-time visualization of the patient’s anatomy, allowing them to compare the live images with the surgical plan. This improves the accuracy of procedures, minimizes the likelihood of errors, and reduces operating time. The device is easy to move between operating rooms, offering convenience and mobility.

Loop-X capabilities:

  • Mobility. With a width of just 189 cm, a compact lightweight design, and battery power, the robotic imaging system can be easily transported and positioned in any operating room.

  • Wireless control interface. Operated via a Wi-Fi connection using a tablet.

  • Large gantry diameter.

  • A very wide scanning area made possible by the independent movement of the X-ray source and detector along the gantry. This allows imaging of large anatomical regions—such as the shoulders or pelvis—in a single scan.

  • Non-isocentric 2D and 3D imaging. Independent movement of the source and detector creates a dynamic scanning area, allowing imaging even when the patient is not centered.

  • Adaptive beam collimation. During imaging, the X-ray beam is continuously shaped to match the region of interest, applying the radiation dose only where it is needed most. This helps to minimize unnecessary exposure to surrounding tissues.

  • Combination of robotics and high-precision mobile intraoperative imaging. Integrates robotic positioning with advanced 2D and 3D imaging technologies.

  • Spinal level detection and incision planning.

  • Automatic navigation with saved parking and imaging positions.

  • Navigated 2D imaging.

  • High resolution. A very large flat-panel detector combined with the advanced ring design provides state-of-the-art spatial resolution—up to 21 line pairs per centimeter in 3D imaging mode.
