The Role of Medico-Innovation Technologies in Advancing Cancer Care in Uzbekistan
Company «Medico-Innovation Technologies» has been operating in the medical equipment market for over 19 years and has supplied more than 1 million units of equipment to medical institutions. Starting from 2023, we actively participate in tenders held by various UN agencies. A special pride of our company is an efficient participation in tenders in 2023-2024, organized by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) under the project on modernization of oncological institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This project was implemented in accordance with the Resolution of the President of the Republic of the Republic of Uzbekistan №PP-242 dated May 13, 2022 “On Measures to Implement the Project «Modernization of Oncological Institutions of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Stage II)” with the Participation of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) and UNOPS. Within these 2 years, our company supplied and installed more than 730 units of advanced medical equipment for the total amount of 4.6 million US dollars for the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology and its 14 branches.
Among the equipment delivered as part of the project are mobile high-end ultrasound diagnostic systems, featuring advanced beam-forming technology that ensures high penetration capability and enhanced color dynamics. This is particularly crucial for scanning hard-to-reach areas, detecting tumors, and performing biopsies. Additionally, digital mobile X-ray systems with a C-arm were provided, equipped with flat-panel detectors and the latest digital imaging technologies. These innovations enable complex surgical procedures to be performed with minimal radiation exposure, enhancing both patient safety and diagnostic accuracy.
To ensure the effective use of the equipment, 112 training sessions were held for medical personnel. This initiative expands access to high-quality medical services, improves early diagnosis, and raises public awareness of cancer, directly contributing to higher patient survival rates.
Medico-Innovation Technologies highly appreciates UNOPS’ efforts to ensure transparent and fair procurement in the bidding processes. We successfully passed UNOPS’ stringent selection criteria for medical equipment suppliers, demonstrating compliance with international quality standards, reliability in supply, and long-term business sustainability. The use of UNOPS’ electronic tendering system ensured an open and competitive selection process, guaranteeing high-quality equipment that meets the needs of medical institutions.
The implementation of this project reflects UNOPS’ commitment to transparency in operations, accountability and efficiency, as well as knowledge sharing among partners. Through this collaboration, we jointly contributed to enhancing the quality of oncology services, making a significant impact on healthcare system of Uzbekistan, and, ultimately, improving the lives of people — families, communities — across the country.
